Tim Barry-Murphy – Financial, Investment, Retirement and Protection Planner

Tim is a highly experienced financial professional with a long track record of helping his clients plan their finances to meet their financial needs and objectives. He is responsible for leading Navigation Wealth’s new business generation and servicing his many clients. His commitment to his clients and his professionalism is demonstrated by the longevity of his client relationships and the amount of repeat business from existing clients every year.

Tim joined Navigation Wealth in January 2020.

Tim previously worked with New Ireland Assurance for close on 25 years and managed a team of 15 Financial Advisors who helped their clients with all aspects of Retirement, Investment, Protection, Inheritance and Financial Planning.

Tim is a Qualified Financial Adviser (QFA) and Certified Retirement Planning Advisor (RPA).

Tim brings not only professional insight but a real-world understanding of the financial challenges and opportunities individuals and families face—making his advice both technically sound and personally relevant.

In his spare time Tim combines his love of sport and his commitment to his local community. This is seen in many ways including his work with his local GAA club, Cloughduv. Tim is involved in coaching various camogie and hurling teams in the club, still making time to play golf.

Deirdre Quinlan – Office Manager

Deirdre Quinlan is a very experienced financial services administrator and is a key link between our financial advisers, our clients and the product providers ensuring the smooth establishment and ongoing administration of our clients polices.

Deirdre joined Navigation Wealth in 2010 having previously worked with L.C.I. Ltd and GE Capital Woodchester Finance Ltd.

Dee has over 15 years’ experience in the Life & Pensions Industry as a Senior Pensions/QFA Administrator. Dee achieved the Qualified Financial Advisor (QFA) designation in 2017. Dee enjoys a variety of outdoor activities including hiking, hill walking, swimming and rowing.

Richard Riordan – Director & Owner, Navigation Wealth

Richard Riordan is the Managing Director and Owner of Navigation Wealth a personally managed advisory firm designed to meet a diverse range of client needs focused on high standards of care, professionalism and personal service.

With over 30 years of experience in the regulated financial services sector, Richard’s work is grounded in the belief that meaningful financial advice must be personal, strategic, and delivered with care– values that continue to define Navigation Wealth today.

Appointed as Managing Director of Navigation Wealth in 2010 he subsequently acquired the firm in 2015 directing the firm to a relationship-led, client-focused alternative to the growing trend of impersonal, scaled financial services.

Prior to that, he spent 14 years as a senior consultant with Mercer Ireland, where he advised individuals and corporate clients on financial planning, retirement strategy, redundancy planning, and investment solutions. Richard has also worked extensively with employees and employers in the pharmaceutical sector and accrued considerable experience in the area of Defined Benefit pension schemes and complex decisions often facing members on retirement.

Richard holds a Masters in Financial Services (Honours) and was awarded the IOB Gold Medal award in 2022 for academic excellence. He is a Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®), a Qualified Financial Advisor (QFA), a Qualified Pension Trustee, and a qualified Associate member of the Irish Institute of Pension Managers.

Richard even finds time to pursue his interest in cycling both in Ireland and overseas.

Michael Fitzgerald – Financial Planner & Strategy Lead

Michael is a very experienced finance professional having worked within Life Insurance and Pensions for close on 40 Years.

He has held senior positions in domestic and international life insurance providers and is a former European Partner in Mercer. Michael has worked both designing and advising on regular and single premium pension, savings and protection products and was previously responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Irish Life Insurance trade body.

As well as being a Qualified Financial Advisor (QFA), Michael is a qualified actuary, a former council member of the Society of Actuaries and a qualified Life coach and mentor. He holds Bachelor and Masters degrees in Mathematical Science & Applied Mathematics. Michael has been principal of actuarial consultancies both in Ireland and the Isle of Man.

Michael brings not only professional insight but a real-world understanding of the financial challenges and opportunities individuals and families face—making his advice both technically sound and personally relevant. Michael finds time to produce music projects and act as a mental health advocate and is a keen fan of both Liverpool FC and the Cork Hurling Teams having coached and played for UCC soccer and cricket teams.

Catriona Mulcahy – Compliance Lead

Catriona’s role involves reviewing documentation required to meet the Company’s regulatory requirements under the Central Bank of Ireland Consumer Protection Code and the Insurance Distribution Regulations. She is also involved with the review and enhancement of compliance procedures and provides input to the Company’s records management processes.

Catriona is a qualified compliance professional. She also has significant experience in records management consultancy and as a professional archivist and records manager with over 25 years’ experience working in both Ireland and the Isle of Man.

Catriona was the University Archivist and Records Manager at University College Cork for many years including acting as Project Lead in the Digital Records Management project and subsequently working as a consultant Records Manager and Archivist in the public and private sector. She is a former member of the National Archives Advisory Council, which advises the Minister in the exercise of their powers under the National Archives Act. She enjoys travel, walking, reading and most sport - as a spectator.
